Revitalizing the Golden Veins: Art Therapy Group

  • Nelson, BC Canada (map)

Join us in an art therapy group open to anyone with an acquired brain injury. The group is a safe and supportive space for people to share in the creative process. Together, we will work with a wide range of materials, creating in an environment free from any pressures to make “good” art, with a focus on the arts as healing.

Engaging in the creative process can grace us with many gifts to express and heal ourselves – helping us to share, let go, connect, enhance enjoyment, and gain insight into our lives and our world. Art therapy can help us to imagine new possibilities, and explore what supports us in our growth, as well as facing what can be uncomfortable, if we are ready. Art therapy can help us in being grounded in the present moment, mindfully.

The group will be held every Monday from 12:30 – 2:30 pm, from September 2019 - April 2020. People are welcome to come and go as they are interested and able to each week, and can drop in in anytime during the session as well. All abilities are welcome. Brain injury can include, but isn’t limited to the experience of: stroke, aneurysm, seizures, tumours, infection, poisoning, and injuries including concussions. Hosted by the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute.
