Working with Landscape Intelligence

Response Art

The plethora of landscape intelligences have much to say, when we listen. Forest, ocean, moth, fish, mountain range, song bird, cairn and turtle. Some of their messages are sweet and simple; some emerge ferocious from the depths; some conjure mythical archetype and speak to embedded energetic signatures of place. And some messages reach out from piled stone wrapped by the mists of time.

An ongoing, multi-modal creative response to working with site-specific landscape intelligences. Some of these responses speak to my direct, conscious experiences with specific landscapes, the pleasant and the uncomfortable. Uncannily, some spontaneous pieces revealed themselves as unconscious conduits, sharing messages directly from the landscape themselves, with stories and histories later found to be true through further research.
